Evil West Preview: Wild genre mix puts a smile on your face

Evil West is one of the highlights of this year's Gamescom.
The wild mix of Wild West, brawler and Devil May Cry game put a smile on our faces.
Cologne – Sometimes you don't know what's missing in life until one day it pops up in front of you.
Evil West landed at Gamescom in front of the ingame.de olfactory bulb and is exactly such a thing.
The new action-adventure from Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog mixes genre with fun and creates a game that feels like it should have existed a long time ago.
At this point, however, a friendly reminder: Something like Evil West has never been seen before, as ingame.de from IPPEN.MEDIA reveals.

Evil West in the Gamescom preview: Where is the Dark Tower?
But let's start from the beginning.
Evil West is an action-adventure a la Devil May Cry.
At the same time, you can also play Evil West as a third-person shooter, so if you don't indulge in the Street Fighter brand of brawling, of course.
And did we mention it's all set in a Wild West setting with supernatural horror elements?
What may sound wild at first makes sense in practice with Evil West.
In Evil West, your shotgun is one of your best friends.

ingame.de wouldn't be surprised if developer Flying Wild Hog had some fans of the Dark Tower.
The mega-book series by old master Stephen King, which spits on a fixed genre, is not only likely to have been the inspiration for the western horror elements of Evil West, but also encouraged the nimble programmer's fingers to simply experiment and rethink a slightly outdated genre .

Visually, Evil West is not an unconditional eye-opener, but it has to be anything but hide.
The detailed art style in particular was able to convince the editors of ingame.de in the almost 30-minute Gamescom demo.
The short detour into the second level of the game also showed that Evil West can not only do the classic cowboy town.
The mission also goes underground.
A massive cave with a downward-facing pyramid summons protagonist Jessie Reindeer.

The hard bone is one of the last agents of a top secret vampire hunter society and goes on the hunt.
There wasn't really much to see about the story of Evil West in the Gamescom session.
The finished version of Evil West for release on November 22, 2022 must show how strongly the game relies on its narratives.
