In Livry-Gargan, Seine-Saint-Denis, nearly 150 future contract teachers are trying to train to teach alone

"I really hope it will show that this is the job I'm really going to do all my life", slips Claire, applied in front of her notebook.

For a few hours, the Francilienne finds herself for the last time on the side of the students.

Soon, it will be her who will have to fidget in front of the whiteboard.

This graduate of a master's degree in management of SMEs is one of the 150 future teachers and contractual teachers of Seine-Saint-Denis who benefit from an express training of four days before the start of the school year.

Their future colleagues who have validated the teacher competition can count on a year to acquire the basics of the profession.

Like her, all these apprentice teachers have at least a Bac + 3. Some have already taught, others wait feverishly before throwing themselves into the deep end of the new school year for the first time: "I've been interested in this for a long time , after that it's a bit of a big leap, ”says the one who will teach at Pré-Saint-Gervais (93).

“It's a bit scary, it's a bit stressful, there are a lot of things to learn, to know”.

This daughter and granddaughter of teachers is delighted to benefit from these few days of preparation: “There are a lot of things to learn, to know.

I don't think we realize the workload.

You can really see that in this training.”

If she already knows in which school she will work at the start of the school year, her neighbors have not yet received their place of employment.

Amadou, 34, makes a series of phone calls in front of the coffee machine.

He learns that he will be replacing Villetaneuse.

“We are still worried, since we resume on Monday”.

For Basile Ackermann, secretary of the CGT Education 93, these training days "it's better than nothing, but it's still completely insufficient".

“We are today on glaring lacks which we have been talking about for years”, concludes the trade unionist.

Without these contractors to fill the 4,000 unfilled positions in the last competitions, the schools would have great difficulty functioning.
