The Tel Aviv block club, one of the most beloved clubs in Israel, held its last party on Friday night - and closed its doors on Saturday morning after 14 years of activity.

The reason for the closure is the ongoing struggle of the owners of the place against Netsaba, the company that manages the new central station in Tel Aviv, where the club has been for the past 11 years.

In a post published on the club's Facebook page, it is stated that the management has done everything in its power in recent months to reopen the main extension instead "in order to return the block and the clubbing scene of Tel Aviv to the glory days that we all miss", but the legal proceedings against Netsava meant that it was not This can be done without investing an amount of money that they do not have.

"At the same time, we tried to find an alternative place to transfer the club's activities to, but as of this moment we still haven't found a place that would allow this in a way that fits the spirit of the brand," they added.

The post also states: "The long-term effects of the Corona epidemic, the general state of the club scene in Israel and the world, and the fact that without the main extension the club has been working for a long time at an occupancy of less than 40% and is having difficulty meeting expenses, all these and more leave us no choice but to announce, After 14 years of activity, for closing the Block Club. We want to thank all of you for the wonderful years we experienced together. To all the dedicated staff for generations, the keepers of the vibe, without them the place would not be what it is, to all the artists from Israel and abroad who played the soundtrack of our lives and who were part of the Block family , and of course to you, who were there, danced and took part in this wonderful journey, which lasted almost a decade and a half."

"When we look back on the last 14 years, we feel proud of what we have achieved: we have been home to a community of thousands of dancers and hundreds of local and international artists, DJs, designers, video artists and more; we have hosted the biggest DJs in the world, some even before they became superstars; we have been recognized as one from the best clubs in the world from a long list of leading artists and influential publications; we supported various musical genres and allowed communities to form around them; we left a mark in the annals of the local scene and added to this thick and honorable book quite a few historical reasons that will be remembered for years to come," the management wrote.

The managers admitted that the last year was "the most difficult that has passed, but we end with infinite gratitude for everything we were privileged to experience together. Success is not only measured in money, and memories are priceless - they will always stay with us."

The post ends with a certain point of optimism: "This is the end of a chapter, but not necessarily the end of the whole book. We can't guarantee that it will happen, but we will do as much as possible to continue the path of the block. The saying goes 'For every door that closes, a window opens "The journey is not yet complete, and even if it will be in a different place and time, or in a different way, we hope and believe that we will see each other again in the fields."
