According to the police, a drunk teenager in Wolfsburg kicked two senior citizens off their bikes and seriously injured one of them.
An 80-year-old was taken to a hospital after the 17-year-old attacked, the authority said.
According to officials, the 17-year-old was on his way home with three relatives on Saturday evening from a school enrollment party where he had apparently been drinking a lot.
He behaved aggressively and indiscriminately insulted passers-by.
Then he suddenly kicked a passing group of cyclists.
According to the police, an 81-year-old stumbled, his 80-year-old wife and a 79-year-old companion of the couple fell to the ground.
Investigations into assault
The 17-year-old was "so aggressive" that he physically attacked the two elderly women who were lying on the ground "for no apparent reason".
His relatives and other witnesses pulled him away from the victims.
Both women were injured, the 80-year-old seriously.
The suspect also behaved aggressively towards the police who had been called, and the emergency services finally overpowered him.
A breath alcohol test later revealed a value of 2.2 per thousand.
The youth was initially taken into custody and was later handed over to his mother.
Among other things, he is being investigated for intentional bodily harm.
