Iraq: Biden calls premier, appeal for national dialogue

(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, AUG 31 - In a phone call to Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi after the violence of recent days, Joe Biden asked "all Iraqi leaders to engage in national dialogue to forge a common path consistent with the constitution and the laws of Iraq ".

The two leaders, informs the White House, "welcomed the return of safety on the streets" and the American president offered "full support" to the Iraqi premier's efforts to "reduce tension in the region through dialogue and diplomacy".
