Huge hailstones caused destruction in northeastern Spain

A girl was killed by a large hailstone in the north-eastern Spanish town of La Bisbal d'Empordà in the province of Girona.
This was reported by several Spanish media, citing the responsible authorities.
The girl was hit by the chunk of ice on Tuesday afternoon during a strong hailstorm.
It was taken to a hospital with serious head injuries, as reported by La Vanguardia, among others.
However, the life of the 20-month-old child could not be saved there, it died in the morning.
Hailstones more than ten centimeters in diameter
According to RTVE, around 50 other people were treated for injuries after the hailstorm.
In addition, many cars and buildings were damaged by the hail.
Some of the hailstones are said to have had a diameter of up to eleven centimetres.
Video footage in Spanish media shows the hailstones hitting cars on the road like golf balls.
More storms were expected in the region on Wednesday.
