The plan of interventions of the
Jubilee
, whose guidelines were approved in the meeting of the table that met today at Palazzo Chigi in the presence, among others, of Prime Minister
Mario Draghi
and the mayor and commissioner
Roberto Gualtieri
, aims to "facilitate as much as possible the relationship between the city and the millions of pilgrims and visitors who will cross the walls of Rome on this occasion ".
Palazzo Chigi underlines this.
Here is the plan for Rome
They range from the redevelopment of the areas around the Vatican to interventions on mobility, from the strengthening of security systems to the strengthening of cleaning and decoration activities.
"The redevelopment of
the basilical areas
, of the areas in front of the Jubilee churches and of fifteen parvises of suburban churches will be carried out. The redevelopment will also affect some
railway stations
such as that of San Pietro, including the surrounding areas. The stations and surrounding areas, in fact , constitute hubs of approach to the Vatican, and it is essential that they are comfortable, clean and safe - we read -.
Particular attention will also be dedicated to the
renovation of public green spaces,
through the creation of parks overlooking the Tiber and the redevelopment of the green in some historic villas.
The road maintenance will also concern the
pedestrian underpass of Gregory VII
, the pedestrian path of the Promenade del Gelsomino-via della Stazione Vaticana, the Lungotevere, as well as, more generally, the main and municipal roads of the city, including sidewalks ".
"A new
Youth Hostel
will also be set up , because a large number of pilgrims will be made up of girls and boys, who will witness the jubilee hope en masse - reads the document -. Social services will be strengthened, so that the last and the most disadvantaged can in their turn, to bear witness to hope, so that it really takes shape. Furthermore, towards the urban periphery, where hardship and suffering are more marked, projects and paths of participation will be developed in every municipality of the Roman suburbs, in total coherence with the Jubilee message. For this reason, there will be an enhancement of all citizen security systems, starting with the video surveillance system ".
"As far as
major events are concerned,
the project is to redevelop the area of Tor Vergata, an area that lends itself to situations of this type, already experienced in the past ", we read again.
The plan foresees the opening of the metro C stop at the Colosseum by 2024
.
Tramways and an extraordinary maintenance plan for metro A and B will be built. "Atac will massively renew its vehicle fleet", reads a summary published by Palazzo Chigi.
"If the Jubilee of 2025 will be the occasion, as happened in 2000, for the great relaunch of the capital? I think so, all the conditions are in place".
This was stated by the mayor of Rome and commissioner of the Jubilee Roberto Gualtieri at the end of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi.
