Dozens of project managers scattered all over the country are threatening to resign due to the lack of workers, the cessation of professional training by the Ministry of Economy and the direct responsibility imposed on them in the event of an accident at their place of work.

Many of them turned to Yitzhak Moyal, chairman of the Histadrut of the Construction Workers and Related Industries, with a request to join the Histadrut and declare a labor dispute.

Following the many requests, Moyal, in collaboration with Amnon Schindler, the chairman of the National Committee of Foremen, decided to hold an emergency conference of hundreds of foremen next Monday, the 12th of the month at 5:30 PM at the "Meir Nitzan" cultural hall in Rishon Lezion. The purpose of the conference It is to protest the shortage of tens of thousands of workers in the industry and the cessation of training for Israelis who wish to work in construction, training in which special emphasis is placed on the issue of safety. According to Moyal, the continuation of the current situation will continue to claim victims and will again cause housing prices to rise and delays in the completion of construction due to a lack of workers. At the conference, to Hundreds of foremen have already confirmed their arrival and senior officials of the construction industry in Israel will participate in it, they will voice the outcry of the foremen about the constant neglect and procrastination of the government ministries regarding the distribution of responsibilities at the construction sites, when currently all responsibility rests solely on their shoulders as work accidents only increase. In the last month, 3 workers were killed in serious construction accidents.

"Investigates, judges and accuses them."

"This is a terrible situation and I understand their cry very well," says Moyal, "the foremen continue to be the only accused in every accident that happens, they are investigated, they are blamed, they are judged, and as an inevitable result many of the foremen leave the profession. This is a dangerous profession. Manager Avoda is not Superman and cannot be the only culprit. All the other officials on the site are hiding behind his back and this is intolerable. The foreman does not have professional insurance for negligence. When an accident happens, God forbid, they are forced to pay from their own money for the entire legal process and of course in many cases bear the penalty. You have to understand Along with the collapse of the world of the dead and wounded, the world of the manager of Avod and his family also collapses."

Schindler adds: "The public must understand that there has been decades of government neglect here that seriously harms the workers. In any professional field, human capital is the most important, and here the foremen are simply abandoned to their fate.

Today, the industry lacks about 3,000 foremen, and the Ministry of Economy's announcement added to their frustration that as of August 14, no more money will be given for training in the construction industry, which will only increase the shortage, and of course, directly, will increase apartment prices, because the industry is also lacking dozens Thousands of professional workers.

"Many of the construction workers who are injured or killed do not receive professional training and do not receive standard work permits at height," adds Moyal.

"In many cases, this is done without supervision and fake licenses are often issued. This does not include, of course, the large companies in the industry that take care of themselves to do training and training for work at height in organized and approved colleges. It's a shame that this is the case, many charlatans make money at the expense of safety and the work managers have to be held accountable in the end ".
