Exactly two weeks before it was supposed to take place, the Day Zero electronics festival, which was supposed to be held at the foot of Masada National Park, was canceled this evening (Monday).
According to the festival's production, the cancellation is due to several reasons, including violence by some of the audience at several cultural events that took place recently (for example, at Itai Levy's concert last week) and gate breaking (as happened the other day at the "Zamana" festival) - which puts human lives at risk.
In an announcement made on behalf of the Bluestone Group, which produces the festival under the "De Tripping" brand, it announced the immediate halt of all festivals in which it is involved in light of the recent events.
"The phenomenon of the violent association of 'Terror Sha'arim' cells, which invade events with violence while trampling on an innocent audience, is a ticking time bomb. As the largest content and production group in Israel, we have taken a responsible decision to put the safety of the patrons, as well as the various production workers, at the top of our priorities. We came From love, and we will return when love returns."

The Facebook page of "De Tripping" states that the cancellation is taking place despite "the tremendous efforts, the large financial investment and the work for many months by us and by our partners at Day Zero to return it to the desert. In recent weeks we have been dealing with intractable problems which lead, to our great regret, to the difficult decision of canceling the event."
In a strong post written on behalf of the company, it is written: "Recently a new reality has been revealed in Israel at cultural events. The violence of some of the audience, especially towards the production - security, ushers, bartenders, service providers - violation of basic rules of etiquette, impatience, continuous aggressiveness, breaking of gates and entrances The event, with a real danger to human life, verbal and physical violence, which happens outside and inside the event, make us understand that there is a problem here. A problem whose economic consequences are not yet clear and will weigh even more on the production."
It was also written: "After many consultations and thoughts, our view is very pessimistic. If we as a society do not address the danger inherent in riots at events, then unfortunately it is only a matter of time before there will be a disaster here. It is time for soul-searching."
The company also commented on the cost of living: "In addition, the current economic climate where prices are rising in all areas of life, as well as in the world of events, and the continuous increase in production costs vis-a-vis all suppliers and authorities left us no choice but to accept the new reality."

The company wanted to end the post with a message of optimism: "Everyone who knows us knows that if we decided to hold an event - it will happen, even in the most difficult and challenging places. This event is meant to be the most special, the most invested. We don't know how to provide anything less than that. Given the situation , we are unable to hold the event to the standards we dream and aspire to. We are not interested in compromising, not in the experience, and certainly not in the safety of the audience."
The money will be returned to the purchasers of the tickets in full according to the terms of the purchasers' credit cards.
