A last-minute intervention by the police has managed to foil in recent days a suicide attempt by a woman, who climbed on the scaffolding of the Chiesa degli Scalzi, a few steps from the Santa Lucia railway station.
According to an initial reconstruction, the woman with a knife cut the protective veil of the scaffolding, climbing to the top.
Passers-by - the church is in a very crowded transit area - drew the attention of the agents of the State Police, who were on the spot together with the local brigade.
The policemen intervened quickly, averting the worst.
The woman, with mental problems, is now hospitalized in Venice and her conditions, which are stable for now, will be assessed at a later time.
She would be the same person who fell into the water last Saturday in Rio di Palazzo, next to Palazzo Ducale.
The scene was filmed by passers-by and ended up on the social channels of local city groups.
