Kassel – Whatsapp is the messenger you mainly use?
Then you should be careful now, because from October 2022 the message service will no longer work on certain cell phones.
Apple iPhone models are affected.
As Whatsapp announces on the

New features and functions can therefore no longer be implemented on older devices.
From October 24th, at least version iOS 12 will be required as the operating system on the smartphone in order to be able to continue using the messenger.
Some users can still react in time.
For two models, however, it means the end.

Anyone who owns an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c will no longer be able to use Whatsapp with the two older models from October.
After all, these can no longer be updated to iOS 12.
Users therefore have a choice: either they use a different messenger or buy a newer device.
On all Apple models from iPhone 5S and 6, it will still be possible to send messages or make phone calls via Whatsapp despite the change, according to
WA BetaInfo
.
However, with one condition: the operating system must be updated to at least version iOS 12, and after all, there is not much time left until October 24th.
You can find out which version you are currently using in the settings under "General" and "Info".

Whatsapp: How many mobile phone users are affected by the changeover
However, cell phone owners of newer models need not worry any more.
Starting with the iPhone 6S, these can even be updated to the current version iOS 15, so that longer use of the message service is initially guaranteed.
According to Statcounter, a website that analyzes web traffic, around two-thirds of all iPhones worldwide are running the newer versions iOS 15.4 or 15.3.
The rest are spread over older versions.
However, their values are usually only between three and six percent.
Whatsapp recently launched a new security feature, which caused confusion.
A warning message suddenly popped up for several users.
