Long live the king!

As announced by Buckingham Palace on Friday, the proclamation of King Charles III.

on Saturday from 10 a.m. local time (11 a.m. German time) at Saint James's Palace in London's Westminster district.

The Royal Palace is the official residence of the British monarchs.

A multi-part program

First, the so-called Accession Council will meet for the first time since 1952. At the beginning, the meeting will take place without the king.

The council thereby proclaims the sovereign and formally approves various follow-up orders, which also include provisions for the implementation of the following proclamation.

As the BBC reports, the exact wording of the proclamation may vary.

Traditionally, however, it is a “series of prayers and vows in which the previous monarch is remembered and the new monarch is promised support”.

Then King Charles will make a statement in the presence of the Privy Council.

The Council is a political advisory body to the monarch, made up mostly of current and former MPs.

After the declaration, Charles III.

read and signed an oath to uphold the security of the Church in Scotland and to approve a cabinet order designed to ensure the continuity of government.

Gun salutes in Hyde Park, the Tower of London and from naval ships

This will be followed by a further proclamation, which will be read at 11am local time on a balcony overlooking the Friary Court of Saint James's Palace.

This is the first public reading.

It is conducted by the "Garter King of Arms," the senior herald.

As BBC reports, he will then announce: "God save the King" (in German: God protect the king).

The British national anthem has been sung with these words for the first time since 1952.

Gun salutes in Hyde Park, the Tower of London and naval ships are to follow.

As usual, a second proclamation will be read at around 12 noon at the "Royal Exchange," the former London Stock Exchange and now a luxury shopping mall.

Further public announcements will be made the next day at 12pm in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

In recognition of the new sovereign, the mourning flag display at Saint James's Palace will be suspended until 1pm on Sunday.

The proclamation will be broadcast live on television for the first time.

The official coronation ceremony will take place as the last formal step.

Buckingham Palace has not yet announced a date.

But it is to be expected that King Charles III.

still has to be patient: His mother Queen Elizabeth II was only crowned 16 months after taking office.
