Venice Film Festival: These are the big winners | Israel today

The winners of the Venice Film Festival were announced:

tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) the oldest film festival in the world was held.

The "Golden Lion" award, given to the best film and considered the most important prize of the festival, was won by the documentary All The Beauty and the Bloodshed by the American director Laura Poiters, which deals with the career of the photographer and social activist Nan Goldin.

This is the second time ever that a documentary has won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival.

Cate Blanchett was named best actress for her role in the psychological drama TÁR, in which she plays a principal conductor of a German orchestra.

Colin Farrell surprised and won the award for best actor for the black comedy drama The Banshees of Inisherin, which deals with a relationship between two friends that goes downhill - thereby actually beating Brendan Frazier, who plays an enormous man in the movie "The Whale", and was a leading candidate for the award in Persia

Also, director and screenwriter of The Banshees of Inisherin, Martin McDonough, won the award for best screenplay.

Luca Guadagnino won the "Silver Lion" award as best director for the cannibalistic coming-of-age drama (!) "Bones and All".

On top of that, the Canadian Taylor Russell won the best young actor award for her role in the film).

The jury's grand prize went to the shocking French drama Saint Omer, while the Iranian drama No Bears, which deals with parallel love stories, won a special prize from the jury.
