Instagram is preparing to offer subscribers the ability to republish the posts and reels, videos of a few seconds, of other users.
After a rumor from social media expert Matt Navarra, the same company confirmed the feature test.
"We are exploring the possibility of re-sharing posts in the feed, similar to how you can do it in stories, so that people can share what the original creators do with their work," a spokesperson for the company said.
To date, you can re-share the posts of others but only in the stories, which then disappear after 24 hours.
The new functionality had already been identified last May by the app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi.
According to his screenshots, Instagram had thought about adding the repost option to the sharing menu.
The screenshots show that, like on Facebook, a post can be re-shared by adding its own text to the top.
While the introduction of repost may be a welcome addition for some Instagram users,
The criticisms forced the company part of Meta to go back from testing a feature that would change the design of the main page, with the user board to be scrolled in full screen, just like it happens on TikTok.
