(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 16 - Trouble in sight for the British royal family.

In her first interview after being sentenced to 20 years for luring and manipulating minors to be sexually abused by her ex-boyfriend Jeffry Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell said she was "sorry for her dear friend, Prince Andrew."

The Guardian reports it.

Speaking to Israeli-American filmmaker and documentary maker Daphne Barak, the former socialite said he was "closely following what's happening" to the real, admitting that he is aware that her conviction could create some problems for him.

"He is paying a high price for our proximity, I consider him a dear friend and I care".

The statements are destined to cause embarrassment to the son of the late Queen Elizabeth, who in recent years has tried in every way to distance herself from the financier arrested in July 2019 and committed suicide in a New York prison a month later.

In the circle of the maleficent couple Epstein-Maxwelle there were characters like Bill Clinton, BillGates, Donald Trump and precisely Prince Andrew, who in the end paid a millionaire compensation to close the case for harassment brought to him by Virginia Giuffre, one of Maxwell's "preys".
