On the occasion of the 14th edition of the Day of the Night, activists from the association Resistance to Advertising Aggression (RAP) conducted a


“We would like one day to see the stars in the night sky in Paris.

But it's simply impossible, ”laments Thomas, 42, who has been campaigning for years against light pollution in the city.

Saturday evening, meeting is taken place of the town hall of Parvis, at nightfall.

This spokesperson for the association Resistance to Publicity Aggression (RAP) is waiting for volunteers to carry out a symbolic action against the luminous advertising panels which have invaded public spaces for years and which remain lit day and night.

Armed with large rolls of adhesive tape, black tarpaulins and wooden poles, Thomas and the fifteen or so people who came to lend him a hand that evening attacked the advertising screens and shop signs in the rue de Rivoli. .

The screens of bus shelters or certain kiosks are their main targets.

“We don't touch Morris columns because we don't want to harm pubs for shows or cultural events.

On the other hand, the marks, they are happy to cover them, ”smiles Thomas.

Each year, on the occasion of “Jour de la Nuit”, the collective reminds us that light pollution remains a direct and indirect nuisance on individuals, but also on fauna and flora.

“This year is even more special, underlines Kiki, an activist at RAP Because with the energy crisis that everyone is going through, the advertising screens and the windows that stay on all night, this is really no longer possible.

They waste energy for nothing”.

The City of Paris has moreover recently adopted a deliberation aiming to extinguish from December 1st, illuminated announcements between 11:45 p.m. and 6 a.m. on public roads, in metro stations and in train stations.

Same fate for the windows of stores and offices, from November 1st.
