For more than ten years, Fred Fussbroich showed the life of a “Cologne working-class family” in the docu-soap “Die Fussbroichs”, as the title of the show put it.
Fussbroich has now died at the age of 81.
His son Frank Fussbroich - known from reality formats such as "Jungle Camp" or "Summer House of the Stars" - colored his profile picture black on Facebook.
The family confirmed the news to the tabloid Express.
The first episode of the series »Die Fussbroichs« was broadcast on WDR television in 1990.
In 100 episodes, the docu-soap showed the everyday life of the Cologne working-class family.
Previously, this was seen in the show "Ein Kinderzimmer 1979".
The production documented the social conditions of children in Cologne-Buchheim - with the Fussbroichs as a typical family in an apartment building district.
In 1991, »Die Fussbroichs« was awarded the Grimme Prize in bronze.
A total of 17 seasons ran on television until 2001.
According to "Express", Fussbroich died after a long and serious illness.
