There is no rest for movie lovers.

A few days after the closure of the Haifa International Film Festival, two more film festivals are already starting to make their way to us: the South Film Festival and the Arava International Film Festival.

The Southern Film Festival, which will take place between October 31 and November 5, will open with a screening of "David the Second King of Israel" by Robbie Elmaleh and Amir Ben David - a documentary in which David Levy breaks media silence of about 15 years and does soul-searching in front of the camera.

Along with the screenings of new films from Israel and the world, during the festival there will also be a focus on Moroccan cinema, there will be a tribute event for the late Modi Bar-On, there will be a retrospective for the documentary maker Ran Tal ("Children of the Sun", "Paradise", "1341 frames from the camera of Micah Bar-Am") and the Italian director Roberto Minervini ("What will you do when the world goes up in flames?"), and artist workshops will be offered by the guests of the festival, including Simone Beaton with a screening of her new film "Ziara".

In addition, there will also be pitching events and industry events on different and diverse topics, and for the first time a competition for debut films for Israeli and international cinema.

The festival will close with the screening of the film "Virgins" by Maor Zagouri, which won the artistic achievement award at the last Haifa festival.

The highlight of the Arava International Film Festival, which will take place between November 9 and 19, will be a comprehensive and impressive retrospective of the esteemed Turkish director Nuri Bilga Ceylan, who will also honor the festival with his presence.

This is the first time that Jaylan - who is considered after the greatest directors working in the world today - will come to Israel to present his work as a director and cameraman to the local audience.

Al Jailan will be accompanied during the visit and the events of the retrospective by his partner in creation and life, the successful screenwriter Avro Jailan, and their common son.

Two other guests who will come to Arava are the veteran Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski and producer Jeremy Thomas, who will present at the festival their latest film "EO", a contemporary philosophical observation from the point of view of a small donkey (which won the Jury Prize at the last Cannes Film Festival).
