The giant dome of the Grand Mosque of the Islamic Center of Jakarta, in the north of the Indonesian capital, has collapsed after a major fire broke out in the building.
The building was being renovated when it caught fire, police said, saying the incident did not cause any casualties.
“We evacuated all the people who were in the mosque.
Thank God there were no casualties in this incident,” said Kombes Wibowo, the North Jakarta police chief.
"We will ask the forensic center at police headquarters to help us investigate the cause of the fire," the official said.
On the other hand, four workers, who were working on the renovation of the dome, were taken to the North Jakarta police station for questioning.
