'Welcome to Britaly', the Economist compares the Kingdom to Italy

The weekly jokes on the cover of the chaos of the Truss government (ANSA) "Welcome to Britaly": it is the cover title that the Economist, a historic British weekly that passed in recent years under the control of the Elkann-Agnelli family, dedicates today to British political chaos - which has resulted in the threat of yet another crisis that this time hovers over Liz's Tory government Truss, after not even two months in office - pointing to the tradition of instability


"Welcome to Britaly"

: it is the cover title that the Economist, a historic British weekly that passed in recent years under the control of the Elkann-Agnelli family, dedicates today to British political chaos - which has resulted in the threat of yet another crisis that this time hovers over Liz's Tory government Truss, after not even two months in office - pointing to the tradition of instability attributed to Italy as a sort of negative standard term of comparison.

A comparison already advanced in recent times by various Anglo-Saxon newspapers;

and which, moreover, the Economist, in his opening article today, uses to criticize and mock the current political scenario in London above all.

On the cover, the image is of a Liz Truss dressed as a Roman centurion with the helmet of Scipio, a tricolor pizza shaped like a  

"Reading The Economist is a pleasure for any diplomat", however "your latest cover is inspired by the oldest of stereotypes".

Thus the ambassador of Italy in London, Inigo Lambertini, addresses the director of the British magazine.

"Although spaghetti and pizza are the most sought after food in the world, for the next cover we advise you to choose" between "our aerospace, biotech, automotive or pharmaceutical sectors. taking into account your not-so-secret admiration for our economic model, "he concludes.
