(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 20 - Russian entrepreneur Artem Uss arrested in Milan Malpensa at the request of the United States: the embassy of the Russian Federation is known on Facebook.
Uss is the son of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory and would be accused with 4 other Russian citizens of avoiding sanctions and money laundering.
"The supply of oil products, public equipment and technical means, freely sold and purchased all over the world, is suddenly declared illegal by the American authorities. Why? According to American investigators, the defendants are involved "in the orchestration of a complex system to illegally obtain US military technology and Venezuela-sanctioned oil".
According to the US Department of Justice, Orekhov and Uss were arrested in Germany and Italy respectively on October 17 and will be subjected to extradition proceedings.
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum of 30 years in prison.
Uss was blocked by the police while he was boarding a flight to Istanbul (Turkey) and is now in custody at the prison of Busto Arsizio (Varese), awaiting an alleged extradition request.
