A Russian plane dropped a missile near a British plane patrolling international airspace over the Black Sea on 29 September: Defense Minister Ben Wallace told Parliament, explaining that Britain has suspended patrols following the incident and expressed its concerns to the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The Guardian reports it.
The minister said that an "unarmed RAF RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft" was "involved" by two Russian SU-27s, one of which "dropped a missile in close proximity to the RAF Rivet Joint beyond visual range".
Russia said it was a technical malfunction and Britain subsequently resumed patrols, which are now escorted by fighter jets, Wallace said.
The British Defense Secretary released a statement to Parliament on Ukraine after returning from a visit to his US counterpart in Washington, Lloyd Austin.
