The Backstreet Boys are back: the boy band veterans are playing two completely sold out concerts in the Olympiahalle.

Read our review from the first evening here.

Amused, but also a little embarrassed, they hold up the bright orange fan towel.

Five guys with 90s hairstyles and baggy pants grin at the camera.

Almost 30 years have passed since this recording of the Backstreet Boys was made, the boys have become men.

If management had known at the time that Kevin Richardson (51), Brian Littrell (47), Howie Dorough (49), AJ McLean (44) and Nick Carter (42) would stay in business for so long, they might have had a band name without the word Boys elected.

Backstreet Boys in Munich: Olympiahalle sold out twice

It is fair to say that your remarkable career began in Germany.

Munich, Germany – it's almost home for the Backstreet Boys, says Nick.

The five boy band veterans are back and were guests twice in the completely sold-out Olympiahalle with their “DNA World Tour”.

On the first of these two evenings, it's packed with mostly female fans.

Who really haven't forgotten how to squeal over the years.

The intro with colorful flashes of light and a multimedia show on several screens already indicates where the journey is going: When the Backstreet Boys emerge from the swirling fog on the multi-level stage and sing "Everyone", two hours of perfectly choreographed bombast show begin.

Backstreet Boys in the Olympic Hall: crackers and cuddly hits

The five sing and dance effortlessly for two hours through a total of 33 songs from nine studio albums.

And as if not a day had passed since their breakthrough in 1995, the most successful boy band of all time moves smoothly across the stage.

"Get Down", "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", "Incompelete" and "Quit Playing Games": From cracker to cuddly hit, there is something for every mood.

Unfortunately, the sound isn't always as perfect as the fans, who sing along loudly to all the songs.

The fact that the boy band spectacle does not come across as soulless despite the many costume changes and effects, despite the stylish look, is due to the boyish charm of the five Americans.

They still have good chemistry with each other.

And they do nonsense on stage in the best sense of the word, so that one might believe that they have fun being able to play this tour.

"It's entirely up to you that we're still here," says Brian during one of the breaks between the costume changes.

As youthful as they are in their 40s, they would be capable of stopping by Munich a few more times.
