Michel Franck, 65, at the head of the institution since 2010, will hand over in 2025 to its director of production and distribution.

A handover without haste and smoothly.

The Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, one of the great Parisian stages of classical music and opera, announced on Tuesday that it had found its future general manager.

Michel Franck, 65, at the head of the institution since 2010, will hand over to Baptiste Charroing in 2025.

The man knows the room on avenue Montaigne well since he is director of production and distribution of the TCE which he joined in 2020.

Trained violist, chosen after an audition process launched in the spring, Baptiste Charroing's "

mission is to ensure the programming of the 2025 and following seasons

", specifies the theater in a press release.

"

His knowledge of music and of all the players in the music industry, his managerial and managerial skills were all qualities that won over the entire committee

", underlined Eric Lombard, Chairman of the Board of administration of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

Little known to the general public, Baptiste Charroing is a recognized personality in the Parisian musical scene.

Twenty years ago, he worked with Olivier Mantei, current director of the Philharmonie, at Instant Pluriel.

It has since been found behind the scenes of the musical programming of the Bouffes du Nord, behind the development of the Palazzetto Bru Zane or in the luggage of artists like Gustav Leonhardt or François-Xavier Roth during their tours.

He also works with Andreas Staier, Alain Planès, Café Zimmermann or the quartets Prazak, Talich, Mosaïques, Diotima and founded the ensemble Les Dissonances with the violinist David Grimal.

Owned by the Caisse des dépôts, the 1,900-seat theater is managed by a public limited company which provides more than two hundred curtain raisers per season for its own productions or produced with public and private producers, such as Jeanine Roze, Albert Sertfati, Piano * *** or Radio France.

The TCE welcomes nearly 260,000 spectators per year (2018-2019 figures).

The budget of approximately 20 million euros is covered two-thirds by subsidies and sponsorship and one-third by own revenue.
