Big disappointment: Gotham Knights can't hold a candle to the Batman Arkham series

"Gotham Knights" is the quasi-successor to the "Batman: Arkham" games.

However, the test ratings are rather poor - and that's not due to Batman's absence in the game.

Gotham Knights was considered one of the most anticipated titles of the year.

However, the initial enthusiasm has now turned into disillusionment for most gamers.

Shortly before the release, there were already negative voices after it was announced that the game would only run at 30 frames per second.

And this despite the fact that the title will only appear on the new consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Now it turned out that the low frame rate is only one of several problems.

This is shown by the test ratings for "Gotham Knights".

"Gotham Knights": Ratings for the game are mediocre

Many games portals have now formed their opinions on "Gotham Knights".

The metacritic site provides a good overview of the test ratings.

The average test grade there is currently 69 out of a maximum of 100. The same aspects are mostly criticized.

• Among other things, many players disturbed the game world.

  "Gotham Knights" has a large open world, but it often seems too empty.

• In addition, there are often missions whose processes are repeated over and over again.

• The "flow" combat system of the "Batman: Arkham" series was the main gameplay element, which was often imitated in other games.

  Therefore, the testers wonder why it is not used in "Gotham Knights".

  Instead, fighting consists of the typical combination of lighter and harder hits and dodging.

• Last but not least, the story leaves a lot to be desired - and that's not just because Batman doesn't appear in it as a protagonist.

Gotham Knights focuses on Batman's sidekicks Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Red Hood.

Gotham Knights is not a direct Batman: Arkham sequel

Warner Bros. Games Montreal is responsible for the development of the game.

While the studio previously produced Batman: Arkham Origins, an offshoot of the popular Arkham series, Rocksteady Studios' developers were primarily responsible for the latter.

And according to WB Games Montreal, Gotham Knights is a standalone game and not an Arkham sequel.

Nevertheless, the new superhero game will have to compete with the Batman games.
