Ryan Condal, the showrunner of House of the Dragon, has learned a few lessons for season two following the finale of his fantasy series' premiere.

He promises the fans that he will not jump back in time in the future.

There should also be fewer dark scenes.

The ten-part season opener of the HBO fantasy series “House of the Dragon”, which took on the difficult legacy of “Game of Thrones” as a prequel, ended with the final episode “The Black Queen”.

Co-showrunner Ryan Condal, who created the format with franchise father George RR Martin, will continue solo from season two, which begins filming next spring.

Because his production partner Miguel Sapochnik is leaving the ship to devote himself to new projects.

In an interview with THR, Condal now drew a few lessons from the supposed mistakes of the first season, which of course he did not want to repeat in the new episodes, which will probably not be able to air until 2024.

It's about the multitude of time jumps and some scenes that seemed a bit too dark for many viewers.

The chief author also commented on the question of how many seasons are possible in total.

In this regard, Martin recently stated on his blog that his book Fire & Blood deserves at least four seasons to do justice to the story.

Condal, on the other hand, doesn't want to commit yet: "Right now I'm concentrating on the ten episodes that lie ahead of me.

There will definitely be more storytelling after the second season.

This is the story of a Targaryen dynasty

which continues for 150 years after the events of the season one finale.

Kings and queens come and go as the story unfolds.

So the question is less where this story ends than where the curtain (for the series) falls.
