Children unwilling to swim should better be kept away from this message: A man died in Iran – a few months after his first personal hygiene in decades.

As reported by the British »Guardian«, among others, »Amou Haji« died at the age of 94.

The name is a term of endearment for an older person, the birth name is not mentioned in the reports.

But there are some remarkable details about the everyday life of »Amou Haji«.

Among other things, he is said to have fed on animals that were run over on the streets of his home town of Dejgah in the southern Iranian province of Fars.

He also smoked animal excrement in a pipe.

According to the "Tehran Times", "Amou Haji" rejected personal hygiene as harmful to health.

In any case, he made it to a proud old age with his lifestyle.

A few months ago, neighbors persuaded him to go into the wet room.

There is no direct connection to his death.

However, there seems to have been a dark background to the old man's circumstances.

According to the Guardian, the villagers explained that "emotional setbacks in his youth" led to the hermit life.

These setbacks are not described in detail.

According to the reports, he never had a really permanent residence, instead he slept in a hole in the ground or in a simple brick building.

Indian inherits the dubious title

According to the Guardian, the unofficial title of "world's dirtiest man" now falls to an Indian.

Kailash »Kalau« Singh is also said to have not washed for decades.

With his lack of hygiene, he apparently wants to point out abuses in his home country.

Even if he doesn't let water get on his skin, Singh doesn't do without cleansing entirely: he relies on fire.

The Hindustan Times once quoted him as saying: "It's just like using water for a bath.

Fire baths help expel all pathogens and infections from the body.«
