The three candidates will be auditioned on their project on December 19, said Arcom (ex-CSA), which is responsible for the final choice.

The presidency of Radio France will be appointed for a term of five years.

Candidates had until October 21 to submit their applications.

In 2018 for the previous designation, six candidates, including Sibyle Veil, had been auditioned.

Sibyle Veil, 45, CEO of Radio France since April 2018, announced in early September that she would run for a second term.

At the end of June in our columns, she opposed the idea of ​​a major merger in public broadcasting and said she wanted to know the state's projects before applying for a second term.

It finally decided without having a new defined roadmap, the State having decided to extend for an additional year the contracts of objectives and means (COM) of the groups of the audiovisual public, with a view to a great debate on its organization and financing.

Maïa Wirgin, 43, was appointed secretary general of the Court of Auditors in March.

She knows Radio France well: between 2014 and 2018, she was chief of staff to the CEO at the time, Mathieu Gallet, then secretary general of the public group.

Finally, Florent Chatain is a journalist who worked for France Inter and Europe 1 in particular.

In addition to Radio France, the candidacies for the presidency of another public broadcasting group, France Médias Monde (which includes France 24 and RFI), will be announced Thursday by Arcom.

The outgoing, Marie-Christine Saragosse, is applying for a third term.

Finally, the mandate of the third boss of public broadcasting, Delphine Ernotte (France Télévisions), runs until 2025, after its renewal in 2020.
