A Lidl customer would not have expected such a discovery in 2022 - an anti-theft device on Lidl meat causes dismay.

Hamburg – Consumers have been used to some inconveniences in supermarkets since 2020 at the latest.

First empty shelves with toilet paper or pasta.

Then in spring 2022 with vegetable oil.

And now, in the fall of 2022, price increases seem to know no bounds.

Hardly anything in the supermarket surprises you anymore, does it?

A Lidl customer from Hamburg was quite irritated when he checked the steaks more closely on the refrigerated shelf, as hna.de writes.

So much so that he promptly snapped a photo and posted it on Twitter.

Because in fact he saw anti-theft devices on the meat!

And wrote to Twitter readers: "If you had 'the steaks at Lidl are now alarmed' on your prediction list for 2022, I'll buy you a beer."

He received several dozen likes in less than 24 hours for the post.

And also some comments.

“You have to secure €4 cheap meat against theft.

This is all awful on so many levels.

There's a whole dystopian novel in the freezer," writes one user.

But she obviously didn't notice that the 3.99 euro sign refers to the shelf space below.

“The price tag should obviously not refer to the meat shown.

Without wanting to bother you with details," one of them then remarked.

"That's right, but the steak doesn't cost much more," emphasizes the Lidl customer promptly.

It "definitely cost less than 5 euros".

Lidl anti-theft device is not an isolated case - many have already discovered something similar in supermarkets

Incidentally, the Lidl customer did not buy the meat.

And made the discovery in a Lidl branch in Hamburg-Hamm, as he explains when asked about hna.de.

The anti-theft device on the meat is new, but not all.

"They were 3/4 years ago, depends on the price per kilo," says one user.

And in fact, for months - as reported by tz.de - there have always been supermarket customers who come across such anti-theft devices and are publicly surprised.

You have to get used to it.

A Twitter user, on the other hand, finds another detail in the photo difficult to digest: "'Posture 1'.

I don't eat meat anymore anyway, but it always shakes me violently." Lidl is currently facing serious allegations of meat anyway (see video above).

Supermarket customers at the meat counter need to know this.
