PSG and French national team defender Presnel Kimpembe suffered an Achilles tendon injury three weeks into the Bleus' first World Cup game, on 22 November as Al Wakrah against Australia.

This was announced by PSG, a club that Kimpembe has already missed for more than two months this season due to a thigh problem.

"Following a blow, Presnel Kimpembe now has a discomfort in his right Achilles tendon and will remain for treatment at the training center", is written in a note from the PSG.

The defender was back on the pitch, as a substitute, in the Champions League match won by the Parisians last Tuesday against Maccabi Haifa and will miss the trip to Juventus tomorrow.

But Paris does not go further, and does not specify how long the player will be unavailable.

National team coach Didier Deschamps will announce the list of 26 squads for the World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday 9 November, and is already having to deal with the absences of key elements for his team such as midfielders Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante, both injured.

In addition, the central defender Raphael Varane, a starter, also injured himself (in the thigh) and, although he could have time to recover for the World Cup, in the meantime he will not take the field with his club, Manchester United.

In short, the call-up list for Deschamps is becoming a puzzle.
