Five facts about tomatoes ("Don't miss" system)

Tomatoes are the perfect addition to a sauce, salad or sandwich, so it's a bit of a shame when they aren't as juicy as they should be.

Ran Patel, an Indian food expert, uploaded a video on the Skoff YouTube channel explaining how to quickly ripen your tomatoes at home.

She explained that ideally people should buy tomatoes that are already ripe, but if they are not yet, Ren revealed what to do.

"First of all, don't put them in the fridge. My first tip is to put them in the sun if possible."

And what if you don't have a place with direct access to the sun?

Put them in a warm place in the kitchen where the sun can touch them as much as possible.

That's how she does it

Ran told the viewers that they don't have a place in the house with direct sunlight, that they will leave the tomatoes outside for a few days and they will ripen naturally - this will be the case for most people during the cold winter days.

She also claims that the tomatoes should be kept at room temperature and not in the cold of the refrigerator.

Gregory Lofts, editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Living magazine, explained why: Tomatoes have an enzyme that reacts to cold temperature, which causes the cells to break.

The sad result is that the tomato loses its flavor.

"You end up damaging the flavor and texture of the tomato," he says.

Ran adds another tip: "If you bought tomatoes that are still in a bunch, try not to take them off because they will continue to develop at home. Don't put them in the fridge, we have a tendency to put them in the fridge the way we buy them."

Instead, she recommends leaving them in a fruit bowl and allowing them to ripen with the rest of the fruit.

Note that cherry tomatoes will ripen faster than the larger ones.

But how can you improve the taste of tomatoes immediately with only one product?

According to Bon Appetit magazine, tomato lovers should mix their tomatoes with pineapple juice.

"This will ripen the tomatoes and make them taste great. Add a teaspoon of juice each time, so you don't get a pina colada."
