So much honesty must be allowed: In his latest program "ZDF Magazin Royale" on Friday evening, moderator Jan Böhmermann massively criticized public broadcasting - shortly after the broadcaster announced that Böhmermann had extended his contract with ZDF.
Böhmermann hosted the evening under the program title "Young, diverse & mega programme: the public broadcaster".
The moderator began with the words: "Today we're not talking about something secret on ZDF, but about something obvious: public broadcasting sucks." «.
An allusion to ARD boss Tom Buhrow, who recently brought a reform of the public service into play and chose a similar formulation during the event.

In the course of the program, Böhmermann then dealt with the latest headlines about his own employer: He referred to the scandals and affairs that have become known in recent months, such as the RBB director Patricia Schlesinger who has since been fired and the generous pension plans of RBB- directors.
Despite everything, Böhmermann made it clear with his very own irony that he was close to his employer: "I'm a child of public broadcasting." He loves and breathes independent broadcasting, which is basically "such a great idea".
In places, Böhmermann's speech had the effect of a cry for help: "It's really hurting me, this debate at the moment."
Around the release of the new episode, it became known that ZDF is also planning to work with the moderator in the coming years.
"We look forward to continuing to work with Jan Böhmermann," said ZDF at the request of the German Press Agency.
The industry service dwdl.de had reported that the satirist had signed a three-year contract until the end of 2025.
According to the report, further episodes of "ZDF Magazin Royale" would be produced by entertainment television Ehrenfeld GmbH after the Christmas break.
This is how Böhmermann himself repeatedly makes the headlines: a few days ago his magazine caused a sensation with the publication of secret NSU reports.
The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution (LfV) Hessen has now filed a criminal complaint.
This is only directed against the illegal disclosure of the documents and not against their publication.
The “Ask the State” platform was also involved in the publication.
