"The views of others" is the name of the new "crime scene" from the Black Forest, which ARD is showing this Sunday.

You can read in our – guaranteed spoiler-free – review whether it's worth turning on.

A bed covered in blood and no sign of the husband or the young son.

Instead, “The Views of Others” rest on the tranquil single-family home in the Black Forest.

The "crime scene" of the same name (Sunday, November 6, 2022, 8:15 p.m., ARD) takes place in the microcosm of a community that can't do much with newcomers.

For them it is clear: wife and mother Sandra - one who is not from there - has the family on her conscience.

"The Views of Others" is the ninth case for Commissioners Tobler and Berg

Prejudices, distrust, family quarrels, a secret affair, unfounded accusations - sounds like a very big drama in which the inspectors Tobler and Berg (Eva Löbau and Hans-Jochen Wagner) slip, or rather stroll.

Because that is the pace that the two investigators set.

With great deliberation is determined and questioned here.

Not a trace of the feverishness of suspense-packed urban thrillers.

Instead, the two deliver solid police work, trying to clarify whether father and son fell victim to a violent crime and whether the mother, who seems strangely impassive, is the perpetrator in question.

Lisa Hagmeister convinces in this ARD "crime scene"

Lisa Hagmeister does a good job as Sandra, the woman everyone looks at critically and who above all distrusts her own mother-in-law.

Brittle, unwieldy and with believable stubbornness, she plays the role of the outsider who is confronted with the death of her family in the course of the investigation.

But the really big emotions stay away – from everyone involved.

The distanced narrative style of director Franziska Schlotterer keeps the viewer at a distance and robs the thriller of its clout.

Why fear, be touched or share the excitement when there is no one to arouse empathy?

What remains is a "crime scene" that tries to be realistic with its investigators and sacrifices the tension for it.
