(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 07 - The advisor to the Ukrainian president Mykhailo Podolyak declared that Kiev has never refused harsh conditions to negotiate with Moscow, conditions that the Russian president will never accept and therefore Kiev is ready for talks "with the future Russian leader" but not with Vladimir Putin.
"Important: Ukraine - wrote Podolyak on twitter - has never refused to negotiate. Our negotiating position is known and open. 1. First, Russia withdraws the troops from Ukraine. 2. After all the rest. Putin is Ready? Of course. Therefore, we are constructive in our assessment: we will speak with the next leader of Russia ".
Podolyak tweeted after a Washington Post story on Saturday that the Biden administration privately encouraged the Ukrainian leader to signal an opening to negotiate with Moscow.
