ANSA learns in Milanese circles - is the name given to the members of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation by the Minister of Sport, Andrea Abodi, for the role of new CEO to be proposed to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, at the which is the appointment.
"I am very satisfied with the methodology used by the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, to identify the new CEO of the Milano Cortina 2026 foundation".
This was stated by the president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, in a statement.
"The sharing of the path first and of the name then gathered unanimous consent among the founding members - continues the n.1 of the National Olympic Committee - and now we await with confidence the decisions that by law are due to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni".
ANDREA VARNIER, A LIFE IN FIVE CIRCLES
Andrea Varnier is a highly experienced manager, especially in the sports field, the professional proposed by the Minister of Sport, Andrea Abodi, for the role of CEO of Milan-Cortina 2026. Veronese of origin, 58 years old, Varnier was among the another CEO of Filmmaster Events, who oversaw the opening ceremonies of the latest Olympics and also of some editions of the European Football Championship since 2012 (Poland and Ukraine), but in over 30 years he has managed the management of many international events and is linked to the Olympic world.
His 'debut' in this field dates back to 2001 as image and events director of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. He was subsequently a councilor of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the 2008 Beijing Games (from whose experience he was inspired to publish the book entitled '
Beijing 2008 Ceremonies - The Experience '), so he was also the managing director of Cerimonias Cariocas 2016, the Brazilian consortium of which Filmmaster Events was a partner, for the realization of the Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies, the trip of the Olympic and Paralympic torch and welcome ceremonies for athletes who, for the first time, have been entrusted to a single club.
In 2020 he left Filmmaster Events and is now preparing to become the CEO of Milan-Cortina.
