(ANSA) - COPENHAGEN, 07 NOV - At least 15,000 people died in Europe from causes directly linked to the heat in 2022. This was announced by


   the World Health Organization.


    The still incomplete estimate published today by the WHO includes 4,500 deaths in Germany, nearly 4,000 in Spain, over 3,200 in Britain and a thousand in Portugal.


    The toll "is expected to rise, as several countries have reported heat-related excess deaths," particularly last summer, said OMSper Europe director Hans Kluge.
