Guitarist Keith Levene, founding member of British punk rock band 'The Clash' and punk band 'Public Image Limited', has died aged 65, according to the Guardian.

Suffering from liver cancer, Levene died at his home in Norfolk, his family announced.

Born in London in 1957, Julian Levene of his real name participated alongside guitarist Mick Jones and bassist Paul Simonon, in the creation of the "Clash" in the 1970s. It is still Levene, alongside the group's manager Bernard Rhodes, who recovers Joe Strummer, leader of the 101ers at the time, in order to integrate him into the group.

He finally left the "Clash" shortly after their creation, even before the release of their first album in 1977, although he had co-written the song "What's My Name".

He really enjoyed success with his second group “Public Image Limited” (PiL), which he founded in 1978 with John Lydon (or Johnny Rotten), founding member of the “Sex Pistols”.

RIP Keith Levene.

Here he is with Public Image Ltd inventing all the best post-punk guitar sounds in one single song.
