(ANSA) - NEW YORK, NOV 14 - Elon Musk in court.
Tesla's patrons will have to defend himself and prove that he deserves his multi-billion dollar compensation in the context of a legal action initiated by the shareholders who accuse him of being enriched.
The trial opens today and Musk could testify later this week.
According to some shareholders, Musk, Tesla and its board of directors have betrayed their fiduciary obligations by granting Musk $ 56 billion in stock options.
The process comes a few weeks after the acquisition of Twitter, which has joined the countless companies already under Musk's control.
The investor attorneys of Tesla who sued believe that Musk has too many positions to be considered full-time CEO of Tesla, much less one who deserves a compensation that dwarfs that of the CEOs of any other listed company.
The lawsuit was filed prior to the Twitter acquisition.
