Germany-wide recall at Rewe: plastic parts found in frozen pizza

Rewe is currently recalling a frozen pizza from its own brand Rewe Beste Wahl.
The product may contain larger pieces of plastic.
Attention Rewe customers: The supermarket is currently recalling a frozen product from its own brand Rewe Beste Wahl throughout Germany.
Plastic parts were found in the “Classica TexMex” frozen pizza, the company said in a statement on Friday (November 19).
Rewe recall: own-brand frozen pizza affected
The product "Pizza Classica TexMex" from Rewe's own brand in the 350g packaging is affected by the recall.
Specifically, the manufacturer, Freiberger Lebensmittel GmbH, named the products with the best before dates June 2023 and July 2023 and the batch numbers L2262, L2279 and L2287.

Because Rewe cannot rule out that there are transparent plastic parts in the product, the manufacturer launched a recall for the frozen pizza for reasons of "preventive consumer protection," according to a statement.
According to this, consumers could find transparent plastic parts, measuring approx. 1.5 cm x 2 cm, made of flexible hard plastic in the pizza.

The manufacturer strongly advises against consuming the product.
Above all, the consumption of plasticizers in plastic can be dangerous: As the consumer center informs, there are some plasticizers that can be harmful to health.
For example, they can attack the liver, kidneys or testicles.
The TexMex pizza has already been taken off the Rewe shelves.
Customers who have already purchased the affected product can return it to their Rewe store and receive a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt.
Rewe is currently also affected by another major recall: Due to an outbreak of Listeria, Kaufland, Rewe and Edeka have had to take Jeka A/S brand fishcakes out of their fresh food counters.
