Emmanuel Macron wants to go further.
The French president announced this Sunday that he wanted to organize a summit in Paris in 2023 for “a new financial pact” with vulnerable countries.
An announcement which comes after difficult negotiations which overflowed the schedule planned during the Cop27.
The latter ended with a highly disputed text on aid to poor countries affected by climate change, but also on a failure to set new ambitions for the reduction of greenhouse gases.
At COP27, France and Europe reaffirmed their commitment to the climate.
We need a new financial pact with the most vulnerable countries.
I will work on it with our partners with a view to a summit in Paris before the next COP.
