In the trial of the fatal shots at two police officers near Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate, the public prosecutor's office has demanded life imprisonment for the main defendant, Andreas S.
S. was guilty of two murders, said senior public prosecutor Stefan Orthen in his plea to the Kaiserslautern district court.
In fact, several characteristics of murder were fulfilled and the act had "executive character".
The guilt is particularly serious, said Orthen.
On January 31, a 29-year-old police commissioner and a 24-year-old police candidate were shot dead during a night traffic check on a district road near Kusel.
As the suspected shooter, 39-year-old Andreas S. has been on trial for two murders since mid-June.
Judgment expected next week
"The killing of the police officers served to cover up commercial poaching," Orthen said now.
In addition, the murder characteristic of greed was fulfilled: "Without the crime, he would no longer have been able to sell the game he killed for a profit," said the senior public prosecutor.
For the co-defendant Florian V., the public prosecutor pleaded for no punishment.
V. is guilty of commercial poaching.
However, because of his contribution to clarifying the facts, the court should refrain from imposing a penalty.
The court had previously discontinued the proceedings against V. for attempted evasion of criminal prosecution.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the joint prosecutor and the defense should plead.
A verdict could be announced on Wednesday next week.
