According to the Essen police and the Essen public prosecutor's office, five men between the ages of 30 and 41 were injured, some seriously, in a violent altercation in a nightclub.
According to this, around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, the police received several emergency calls, in which the incident was mentioned and several injuries were mentioned.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the five injured.
According to a statement from the public prosecutor's office and the police, some of the men have stab wounds, among other things.
There is no information about the other injuries.
All five of the injured were taken to hospitals, and according to the police, two could not be life-threatening.
In addition, "numerous reinforcements were requested" to "appropriately deal with the operational situation on site".
While some media reports say that several strangers stabbed the men and then fled, the police did not provide any information on the number of perpetrators and their whereabouts.
Just like the background of the dispute and the role of the injured persons, this is still the subject of the investigation.
A homicide commission investigating "possible attempted homicide" was set up.
