They are yellow, ragged and look like something you would throw in the garbage.
But it turns out that when shoes come with a luxury brand name tag, they almost instantly become a coveted collector's item.
We are of course talking about Adidas and Balenciaga shoes.
These are Stan Smith shoes, the result of the collaboration between the prestigious fashion house and the popular sports brand.
Although the shoes were designed with a tattered and yellowed look, and looked like "a concrete mixer ran over them" as defined by one surfer, they were sold for $800 a pair.
As far-fetched as it sounds, the sheepskin shoes quickly became sold out, and you can't get them on Balenciaga's official website.
Those who are still interested in the ragged collectible shoes can find them at auctions for prices that reach $3,000.

In the collaboration, other items were presented, such as black sports shoes with a sock look, a luxurious black bag with the white stripes that characterize the brand, jeans and sweatpants, shirts, a backpack and earrings.
They all feature the adidas logo, with Balenciaga's name underneath.
Singer Rihanna was spotted wearing a light blue total look from the collaboration between the brands.

The shoes themselves look almost like the regular Adidas Stan Smith shoes.
They come in a color combination of white leather with a green logo square on the tab, and on the back of the shoe appears the Adidas logo, with the inscription "Balenciaga".
As mentioned, the shoes themselves look tattered and their color is a kind of dirty white, which tends to yellow.
In the sole, the matter is more noticeable, and it looks as if it has passed through a puddle of juicy mud and has not been cleaned properly.
The ragged shoes of Balenciaga and Adidas are not alone, and are part of a trend that has become popular in recent years, called Distressed Fashion.
This is a trend, where fashion houses deliberately put out for sale lines of dirty and torn clothes and shoes.
At the beginning of the year, another model of shoes called Paris Sneakers from the luxury brand, which looked like they had been caught in a terrible mudslide, made headlines when they sold for close to $2,000.
The Gucci fashion house also came out with a tattered model of shoes that sold for several hundred dollars in 2019.
The super brand Balenciaga has been in the headlines for the last few days, dealing with quite a bit of drama following the severing of ties with Kanye West, and the holiday campaign they launched.
The photos show children holding teddy bears, which are equipped with straps associated with sado-mazo.
The campaign was taken off the air, and the company apologized.
At the end of the week it was announced that the company filed a lawsuit against the production company of the advertisement, in the amount of 25 million dollars.
They are "requesting compensation for extensive damages caused to the company due to the advertising campaign they produced," the lawsuit states.
And what do you think, would you invest thousands of dollars in tattered shoes?
