Rupnik case, the Vicariate will act but "we must be guaranteed"

The diocese of Rome intervenes in the case of Father Marko Rupnik, the Jesuit accused of abuses against various nuns, announcing "measures" but at the same time asking to be "guaranteed".

The Cardinal Vicar of Rome Angelo De Donatis also speaks of the "numerous and precious" services Rupnik has provided to the same diocese over the years.

Furthermore, the vicar of the Pope's diocese, while deeming it "primary and fundamental to welcome with profound respect the pain and suffering of all the people involved in this matter", asks that "we proceed according to a certain path: we ministers of Christ cannot be less guarantor and charitable than a secular state, de plano transforming a complaint into a crime".

But the facts were actually established so much that Rupnik had been excommunicated.

Of another tenor are the words of the Slovenian bishops who speak instead of "great pain and consternation" for what has emerged.

"Although some facts are, from a juridical point of view, by now prescribed - the Slovenian bishops affirm - they always remain detestable and condemnable".

The association 'Women for the Church' is on a war footing, according to which "Rupnik is, yes, a tsunami, but it is only the tip of the iceberg: it is not the rotten apple inside a basket of healthy apples, it is not the criminal while his associates would be innocent. It is an endemic disease that pervades the whole ecclesiastical system".
