"Nine years have passed but for my son Ciro politics has done nothing: no one has taken serious measures yet my son was killed in an ambush not in a fight".
This was said by Antonella Leardi, mother of Ciro Esposito, the young Napoli fan who died in hospital after being seriously injured by a Romanist ultra in 2014, speaking on the show "Campania Oggi", broadcast on Teleclubitalia, channel 77. Commenting on the clashes among Roma and Neapolitan fans in the Badia al Pino service area, along the A1, Leardi explained that "these guys have a precious opportunity: life. And sometimes they can put it at risk for a football rivalry. And it is what distresses me the most. I would not want what happened to my son to happen again".
And to those who speak of an alleged feeling of revenge, never completely dormant, between the two fans born following the death of Ciro, the mother asks that her son's name never be "used to commit violence".
