(ANSA) - ROME, 11 JAN - The Russian group Wagner said in a statement that it had found the lifeless body of one of the two British volunteers declared missing at Soledar in eastern Ukraine.

The Tass reports it, adding that the passports of both men, Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Parry, were found on the body.

According to the Ukrainian police, the two men had been lost since 6 January.

"On 8 January, the Ask Wagner switchboard received a search request for two UK nationals, Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Parry, who disappeared in Soledar on 6 January. Today the body of one of them was recovered carrying the passports of both ", wrote the press service of Yevgeny Prigozhin's group in Telegram, quoted by TASS.

The two, continues Tass, had left Kramatorsk for Soledar, and then all communications were cut off.

The parents of Bagshaw, who was born in the UK and later moved to New Zealand, said their son had traveled to the conflict zone to help the Ukrainians.

According to media reports, the two were members of an NGO and helped evacuate civilians.
