A 38-year-old German had a fatal accident while climbing in the Austrian Alps on Sunday.
His 34-year-old companion survived with serious injuries.
The two men are said to have gone on a climbing trip to the Schusslersprung, an ice fall in the Pitztal, according to local police.
While abseiling, the two men fell from an unknown cause.
The 38-year-old suffered fatal injuries.
However, his companion was able to make an emergency call.
Because of bad weather, it was not possible to rescue the two Germans by helicopter.
The mountain rescue had to walk to the scene of the accident.
The injured 34-year-old was taken to the hospital.
