Winter is forecast to return to Bavaria's higher elevations this week.
Above 400 to 600 meters, slush and partly freezing wetness can be expected on Monday evening and Tuesday night, the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Monday afternoon in Munich.
With the exception of the lowlands in western Franconia, the meteorologists expect light frost throughout the Free State on Tuesday night.
In some Alpine valleys, temperatures could drop to minus five degrees.
In Berlin, Lower Saxony and Hamburg it is a bit milder - here the meteorologists expect sleet at 2 to 3 degrees.
Storm gusts and rising water levels
According to the forecasts of the DWD, it will also be uncomfortable otherwise: the weather experts expect stormy gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour in western Franconia and Swabia.
In the ridges of the Alps and low mountain ranges, gusts of wind of up to 80 kilometers per hour are to be expected, and temporarily severe gusts of wind of up to 100 kilometers per hour on the highest peaks.
The Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) also warned on Monday of rising water levels on the lower reaches of some rivers in Franconia.
On the Upper Main, the Franconian Saale and the Aisch, reporting level 1 and occasionally reporting level 2 were exceeded at some levels.
Due to flooding in Volkach in Lower Franconia (Kitzingen district), the Main ferry to neighboring Eisenheim is expected to stop operating by Thursday.
As soon as the situation on the Main relaxes again, ferry traffic will be resumed, the administrative community announced.
