Stellar debut with a hat-trick for Luis Suárez in Brazil: the star of the Uruguayan national team scored three goals on his debut for Gremio last night in Porto Alegre.
The former Barcelona striker, now 35, was enthusiastically applauded by the almost 50,000 fans who filled the Gremio Arena, where the local team beat Sao Luiz 4-1 to win the Recopa Gaúcha, the regional tournament State of Rio Grande do Sul.
'Luisito' opened the scoring after just four minutes, then scored again in the 30th and 37th minutes and left the field in the 58th minute, amidst standing ovations, to be replaced by Diego Souza.
With the performance against Sao Luiz, Suárez "already showed why he came", praised the Gremio coach.
