Senator for life: "You don't wear fur in Auschwitz" (ANSA)  "Once I saw a group of Dutch boys who went on a trip to Auschwitz and had a large ice cream, the music of the ears and from that gate, " Arbeit macht frei" entered to the rhythm licking the ice cream. May a principal, a teacher allow all this. I had to think that 6 million dead had died in vain. This is not how you go on a trip to Auschwitz, you go in silence, with suitable clothes. You don't go

"Once I saw a group of Dutch boys who went on a trip to Auschwitz and had a large ice cream, the music of the ears and from that gate, " Arbeit macht frei" entered to the rhythm licking the ice cream. May a principal, a teacher allow all this. I had to think that 6 million dead had died in vain. This is not how you go on a trip to Auschwitz, you go in silence, with suitable clothes. You don't go on a trip, you go as if to a shrine, even secularly , head down and trying to remember so as not to forget the Holocaust".

Senator for life Liliana Segre says it in the Senate Chamber when she intervenes in the explanation of vote on the bill for the trips of memory, a long applause from the Chamber follows her words.

"I never went back to where I was a prisoner. I didn't feel like it. Once I was invited, in 1995, there were many characters, but I didn't feel like it. Then when I read and heard the description of the furs on the radio of the Queen of Holland and Berlusconi, at that moment I thought: how happy I am not to have accepted this invitation. It's true 50 years had gone by, but it had never occurred to anyone not to wear fur...".
